There are 2 things that come into play when we conclude whether or not we are attracted to an offer:
1- The PRICE
2- The STORY
But as you'll discover in this week's video, YOUR STORY is often not given a chance to be heard... or worst, it's replaced with a completely different one.
Whether you'r a DIY using tape to help with the cutting in... or you're a Professional Painter using tape to create a paint border in the middle of a wall...
You may have had to deal with a stubborn tape that was hard to remove... or worst, that was peeling away some of the paint.
Why is that?
And what can I do to avoid this?

Deciding which one will be best to target is a discussion I'd recommend having with a local Realtor - someone who really knows the state of your market.
But one thing I often see people do when we are asked to come in to do some painting in preparation for selling... is try to go somewhere in the middle in an effort to save money and appeal to both markets.
But like most things in life, when we try to please everyone, we end up pleasing no one...
Does the idea of SELLING make you feel uncomfortable?
If so, it's probably because you don't fully appreciate the value of your offer.
Because like most things is life, SELLING can either come from a self serving place (what's in it for me?)... or from a place of giving (what's in it for them?).
Do you want to to build a CAREER as a Painter or Painting Contractor?
If so, I'm here to tell you that your Technical Skills alone (ex: cutting in, rolling, doing repairs, etc)... won't get you there.
When you think about most careers, you first need to go get the KNOWLEDGE and then you develop the related SKILLS to perform well in that line of work. But because there aren't any MANDATORY SCHOOLS for painters to attend, this KNOWLEDGE is often missing... leaving a lot of painters believing that their ticket to that great career is dependant on their SKILLS ALONE.
But there's a limit to what the market will pay you for those skills...
Luckily, there are 3 different ways that you can ADD VALUE in the market (and as a result, earn more money):
1- Your SKILLS
2- Your KNOWLEDGE
3- Your SERVICE
While I'm not a big fan of estimating painting projects on a per square foot basis, it's still good to understand the logic behind this system. In this week's video, I share with you the industry standards I was thought early in my career and the reason why I'm not a fan of it.
Normal: 200 sq/ft/hr to cut and roll
Hard: 100 sq/ft/hr to cut and roll
Easy: 400 sq/ft/hr to roll (no cutting)
2nd Coat: 60% of the first coat
