Over the years, I’ve noticed something interesting about how-to videos — especially in the painting and trades world.
Back in 2012, I created a video series showing how a professional paints a room from start to finish. My goal was simple: to help homeowners who wanted to tackle a project themselves by sharing a few practical tips and tricks from a professional’s perspective.
But as time went on, I started noticing more and more comments arguing about “the right way” to do things.
“This is wrong.”
“That’s not how a real pro does it.”
“You should always do it this way.”
And it made me realize something important…
There Is No Single “Correct” Way
In reality, there isn’t just one right way to paint — or to do anything in the trades (or even in life)
How work gets done depends on many factors:
A painter in one part of the world may work very differently than a painter somewhere else — and both can be doing excellent work.
That’s okay.
If you were to watch 20 different professionals, you’d likely see 20 different methods. Different doesn’t mean wrong.
How Our Systems Were Built
Over the past 26+ years, Gino and I have developed our own techniques and systems. Many of them are quite different from what you’ll see online — and that’s by design.
We didn’t get here by copying others.
We got here by:
That mindset is what helped us build a strong reputation and consistently deliver great results for our clients.
Learning From Everyone — Creating Your Own Way
My advice to anyone learning a trade — or working on their home — is this:
Don’t just copy one “expert.”
Instead:
That’s where real breakthroughs happen. That’s how you become more efficient, more confident, and more successful.
A New Approach to How-To Videos
In my upcoming videos, I’ll be sharing our methods — not as “the only way,” but as the way we do it.
What has worked for us.
What has served our clients well.
What has helped us build a strong business.
Some things you may agree with.
Some you may not.
Some may inspire you to try something new.
And that’s exactly the point.
